Trucking might seem like a potential winner in the pandemic.

Amazon can barely keep up with orders and all kinds of delivery services are bringing goods to American homes.

Yet the reality is that shut-down manufacturing lines, shuttered stores and closed restaurants have cut into the need for shipments, making trucking a big loser.

More than half a million jobs in transportation and warehousing were lost in April. The unemployment rate for the sector rose to 13.5% for the same month.
