I’m officially “temporarily laid off”. I’m a bartender/server in NYC. I knew this was going to be a scary time for the service industry, but I am in full panic mode now. #coronavirus #COVIDー19 #SocialDistancing #laidoff

As a bartender, I was shocked at the amount of people out and about like nothing was going on. Several older customers came in, shook hands with each other and laughed as if it couldn't happen to them.

I'm feeling terribly jealous of those able to frame self-isolation as a cozy retreat. My husband is a bartender who is going to be out of work soon. I'm going to be trying to singlehandedly support a family of four in New York City as a freelance copywriter. I feel sick.

I’m a bartender here in NYC, and have no idea how I’m going to get by

Obviously this affects employees beyond NYC given the ban of limiting all restaurants to takeout/delivery enforced today by @NYGovCuomo. As a single mother who works full time as a server&bartender, this news was crushing although necessary. Praying resources are made available. https://t.co/lmuAjCC0NM

I was a bartender in NYC during 9/11, and I've never forgotten the kindness of the good tipper. We're all ordering our whole lives for delivery in the coming weeks– please be as generous as you can with those folks working these jobs.

as a nyc bartender, i’m glad that bars and restaurants shut down! it was the right thing to do! and i’m also terrified, not sure if my upcoming last paycheck will cover next month’s rent, not sure when i’ll bring in any more money.

Well now with Bars and Restaurants all closed down in New York State. I guess as a bartender i'll just die. #bartendermood #coronavirus #coronapocolypse #NewYork

I’m a bartender in NY. After I get paid for last week, that’s it until we reopen or there’s some kind of service industry relief bill or something.
This is going to suck.
